Job Skills/Requirements Incumbent should have a strong understanding of programming and experience in delivering quality sports programs. Ideal candidate should have a bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university and up to 3 years experience in related program areas. Candidate must have strong communication skills and the ability to relate well with participants, parents, volunteers and staff. Incumbent must be a team player with exceptional organizational and marketing skills to handle managing multiple programs. Candidate should possess a strong understanding of the YMCA mission and values and a strong desire to develop and deliver high quality programs. Candidate must have a strong background in staff and volunteer recruitment, motivation, problem-solving, training, screening, safety and retention.
The Sports & Recreation Director should be a self starter, able to work independently, be well organized, positive, enthusiastic, caring individual who enjoys working with youth and adults. The candidate should have a high ability to recruit, retain, and coach staff/volunteers; while working within a team atmosphere, exemplifies a proactive, hands-on, and professional work ethic. Lead the recruiting and training of 500 volunteers and over 5,100 participants for sports programs and leagues. Maintain relationships with parents, vendors, schools, and other local agencies. Assist with marketing the programs in order to increase awareness and participation. Maintain relations with the community and its representatives, interpreting the YMCA and its work. Promotes membership enrollment and retention. Set up multiple facilities for games, practices, special events, etc. Provide overall administration for the sports programs. Position would be responsible for developing, marketing, implementing and expanding current programs. Assist with annual fundraising Campaign. Implement all YMCA policies and procedures for risk management / safety for all staff, volunteers and participants. Develop, manage and oversee $300,000 budget. Supervise one full time Coordinator and 30 part time staff. Responsible for developing, planning, organizing, promoting, preparing, running, monitoring, implementing, scheduling and evaluating all youth sports programming including Spring and Fall Soccer, Spring and Summer Girls Field Hockey, Volleyball, Tee-Ball/Baseball/Softball, Flag Football and Basketball.
Salary: Exempt $31,000-36,000
