Intern-Risk Management Performance Analyst
Republic Bank
This position is responsible for analyzing reports and monitoring tax returns to evaluate the tax preparation practices of EROs and ultimately, the likelihood of the IRS funding those returns. The individual will be evaluating potential characteristics of abusive and/or fraudulent tax preparation activities. The objective is to identify high risk tax preparation activities to prevent the bank from making loans on non-compliant tax returns as these may not be funded by the IRS resulting in a financial loss to the Bank.PRINCIPAL JOB FUNCTION AND RESPONSIBILITIES:Timely identification of potentially problematic tax preparers through recognition of abusive or fraudulent tax preparation activities.Review of Unfunded Loans report and other Risk Management reports designed to uncover patterns where tax returns may not be funded by the IRS.Recommend corrective action based on the tools available to restrict tax preparers from continued abusive tax preparation activities.INTERPERSONAL SKILLS AND COMPETENCIES REQUIRED:Must be self-motivated and also work in a team environment.Requires a high energy level and strong sense of urgency.PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORK ENVIRONMENT:The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. Experience: Must be proficient with ExcelPrefer student seeking career in tax preparation and /or audit related activitiesMust have prior work experience in a professional environment
