JOB DESCRIPTION
Job Title: Exstream Dialogue Developer
Reports to: Document Management Services Manager
Department: Administrative Services
Section: Document Management Services
Job Status: Exempt

JOB SUMMARY
The Exstream Dialogue Developer is responsible for the analysis of business requirements, software design, development, documentation and deployment of projects involving document initiatives. This position develops document applications by normalizing Client input files in ASCII flat or XML format, creates document rules using Visual Basic scripting, and applies strict monitoring controls to the initial set of production files. Accountable for ensuring rules-driven document program logic is accurate and resource-efficient.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
• Translates user-oriented business rules into technical specifications and VB scripted composition rules.
• Assists programmer/analysts in designing data layout and interfaces to document composition systems.
• Develops and maintains sample test data using TSO/ISPF and JCL in an IBM MVS mainframe environment to enable thorough testing of document applications.
• Performs document-related research against KFB data using tools such as SQL and Quikjob.
• Extracts data from IBM MVS mainframe sources to be used for one-time document applications using tools such as WebFocus.
• Collaborates with personnel from all departments to finalize document content and wording.
• Develops test plans and conducts testing to identify document errors determines if error is due to faulty composition or faulty data resolves composition defects tracks progress in resolving defects.
• Analyzes new releases issued by software vendor to determine impact on existing production applications, document design, future initiatives, and overall usability.
• Maintains repository of electronic documents insures integrity of the document database.
• Controls versioning and edition dates for electronic documents.
• Obtains business user signoffs during layout design, content development, and testing.
• Utilizes new technologies and proposes process improvements when appropriate.
• Develops standards for new document components, ensuring that document layout is consistent and adheres to published standards.
• Attends vendor training, presentations, and seminars.
• Acquires new skills and strengthens existing skills through successful completion of training and assignments improves techniques for creating and controlling documents.
• Stays informed of technology and insurance industry trends and developments.
• Fulfills administrative reporting duties.
• Regular, predictable attendance.

Experience and Education:

QUALIFICATIONS
• A 4-year degree in computer science or related field or equivalent experience. The experience level of the applicant will take precedence over a formal education.
• Experience in using high-volume document composition tools such as Exstream Dialogue, DCF, and PSF.
• Experience with data research tools such as SQL and Quikjob.
• Proficient in interpreting business requirements into written program specifications.
• Proficient in testing (QC) and production implementation.
• Knowledge of project management methodologies and associated life cycles.
• An understanding and knowledge of standard data structures.
• Firm foundation of grammar and business writing skills necessary to develop effective customer communications.
• An effective communicator of concepts to technical and non-technical staff.
• Ability to estimate work accurately and produce deliverables on time.
• Ability to analyze and resolve problems.
• Ability to contribute to the development of solid business / technical proposals.
• Capacity to effectively handle multiple technical roles in complex environment.
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
