APL
Description The Shipping & Receiving Assistant I verifies that materials received match those ordered in both type and quantity; routes incoming items to the appropriate department, storerooms or other location; prepares and maintains shipping records; participates in the preparation, assembly, and/or shipping of outgoing merchandise or material; rejects damaged goods or materials and corresponds with shipper to adjust damages or shortages. Within the scope of this position's responsibilities, the incumbent must apply the APL Logistics Continuous Improvement (ACI) Model for operational efficiency to improve business processes, increased proficiency and increase efficiency through waste elimination while at the same time, meeting corporate values and objectives.
Accountabilities This position is responsible for, but not limited to, the following: · Apply the APL Logistics Continuous Improvement (ACI) Model for operational efficiency to improve business process, increase proficiency and increase efficiency through waste elimination. · Apply the 5S Lean methodology to create and sustain a safe, clean and orderly facility. · Position requires the incumbent's performance to meet and occasionally exceed standards as set by the company for safety, quality, productivity and customer services. · Prepares and maintains shipping records. Participates in the preparation, assembly, and/or shipping of outgoing merchandise or material. · Verifies correctness of incoming shipments against bills of lading, maintains record of goods received. · Inspects and reconciles goods. Rejects damaged goods or materials and corresponds with shipper to adjust damages or shortages. · Routes incoming goods to proper department. · Checks product. · Assists in re-checks, verifications, and cycle counts. · Performs other duties as assigned. · Must comply with written policies as set forth in the company Code of Conduct, Dress Code policy, Attendance program and associate handbook.
Qualifications Minimum Qualifications · High School diploma or equivalent combination of education and experience · Basic computer skills required · Two (2) years of warehouse experience including at least one year in shipping/receiving required
