Cargo Shipping Specialist - 2nd Shift (LDC)

Job Description:
Purpose/Function:

Schedules LTL/Truckload carriers for order pick ups. Uses material handling equipment safely to pick, RF scan, & ship out orders thru PROVIA (WMS) system ensuring quality standards and customer requirements have been met. Completes end of day cargo shipping reports. Communicates with all company approved common carriers. Complies with Brightpoint core values in the performance of this job. Excellent written and oral communication skills including proficient use of MS Office Suite.

Major Essential Functions:
· Takes Ownership for Pick, Pack, Shipment of LTL and Truckload orders shipped daily by verifying items shipped are not damaged, meet special handling requirements of customers/Retailers and unit count matches PROVIA picks then completes shipment of order.
· Accountable for updating PROVIA system with VIC's bill of lading information, prints and match the B/L's with the orders and has common carriers sign the documents ensuring only items on B/L (order) get loaded into carrier's truck..
· Ensures monthly Quality standards per approved operating plans are met.
· Assembles cartons, stretch wraps, labels each order to minimize number of pallets used to maximize density of pallet.
· Responsible for consolidating order into the fewest boxes, maintains quality of finished pallet to reduce in transit damage.
· Maintains a professional, helpful attitude in dealings with co-workers, supervisors and their departmental personnel at all times

Minor Essential Function:
· Must be forklift certified to operate equipment in the Distribution Center and uses forklift to pick, stage orders that have been released thru Resource/Freight Planning.
· Contacts Company approved common carriers to schedule priority and regular order pick ups- daily.
· Cross trains in other areas of the Distribution Center so as to maximize productivity.
· Responsible for additional tasks assigned to meet or exceed the expectations of customers and/or Brightpoint management based on our fluid business demands.

Experience and Skills:
High School or GED or equivalent

Experience:
2-3 years in a high volume, fast paced distribution center License/Certificate: Forklift certification for narrow aisle, sit down, rider walkie, reach truck Competencies: RF scanners, MS Office Suite ( Excel, Word) and WMS Equipment: Material handling equipment - floor sweeper, stretch wrapper, workstation PC, Printers, RF guns Other: Must identify and report problems in a timely manner. Avoids conflicts. Meets or exceeds commitments. Welcomes balanced feedback. Contributes to building a positive team and puts success of the team above own interest.
