Requisition Number: LinkMS34880 Job Description: The Semi Automated Forces (SAF) Operator position will support the AVCATT Aviation Reconfigurable Manned Simulator, which consists of six (6) reconfigurable simulators or manned modules, Battlemaster Station, Semi Automated Forces Station, four Role Player Stations and the After Action Review (AAR). Each Suite has the capability to simulate AH64A and AH64D "Apache"; the UH60A/L "Blackhawk"; the CH47D "Chinook"; and the OH58D "Kiowa" and used in a collective training environment.
The SAF Operator performs all required functions in support of the Aviation Combined Arms Tactical Trainer, AVCATT and provides a "fair fight" between BLUFOR and OPFOR entities and the manned modules. The SAF Operator will create, control and modify force structure doctrine, damage levels, weapons system parameters, composition, routes of travel, speed, actions, rules of engagement, and level of lethality for both friendly and opposing forces. Creates coalition forces by modifying a unit's equipment, using both unit and entity level control. Uses Command, Control, Computer and Intelligence (C4I) interfaces and equipment in coordination with behaviors of all SAF BLUFOR unit types with the manned modules and communicate with the manned modules on any of the required avionics equipment. Operates computer-generated forces, providing a realistic, tactically correct battlefield training environment for the entire spectrum of war. Friendly and opposing battlefield combatants shall be doctrinally organized and deployed in accordance with current and emerging doctrinal rules of movement and engagement of offensive, defensive and other roles.
The SAF Operator will be responsible for controlling, monitoring and displaying all on-going exercise SAF data. Appropriate SAF behavior stimulus/response is required. Will analyzes and critiques AVCATT operation, comparing to airframe system operation and provides advice as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) for repair or re-engineering solutions. Will provide training or product support enhancement requirements, to AH64, UH60, CH47 & OH58 pilots, co-pilots or training instructors as well as customer representatives and company leadership. The position requires the active participation in daily performance of aircraft operation scenarios, utilizing relative US Army helicopter flight and maintenance manuals with vendor documentation, to maintain AH64, UH60, CH47 and OH58 flight simulators in an operational-ready condition. Performs execution of the training exercise playback in support of the U.S. Army Observer Controller requirements during After Action Review (AAR) when required. Supports continued product improvement via self-study, formal training, conducting formal training and maintains currency in U.S. Army and threat force doctrine. Required Experience, Education or Training: (a) Four (4) year college degree or (b) Equivalent military training and experience. Must be a graduate of a Combat Arms Basic course, Officer or Warrant Officer Primary Aviator Qualification Course, Primary or Advanced Non-Commissioned Officers Course, or Combined Arms Staff Service School (CAS3). U.S. Military NCO or Officer with experience and leadership in aircraft and simulation devices. Must have knowledge of U.S. Army Battlefield Operating System (BOS) and tenets of tactics, strategy, and principles of war that form the basis of military action and war fighting techniques. Must have knowledge of pilot and crew duties, flight and ATC operations and procedures, experience with the aviation battalion level, and knowledge of current threat and friendly tactics, doctrine and organization. Possess a professional understanding of U.S. Army AH64; UH60, CH47 and OH58 helicopter tactical and non-tactical subsystem operations, in-flight operation characteristics and technical policy and procedures. A technical understanding for practical application of and experience utilizing US Military Air Defense Doctrine. Thorough understanding and experience with Flight Control Computers, Nav/Com, GPS, Electronic Counter Measure Systems, Heads Up Display systems, Aircraft Engine and Flight Control Instrumentation Systems. Additional understanding and experience with the AH64 Target Acquisition Designation Sight, Integrated Helmet And Display Sight System, Fire Control Computers, Alpha Numeric Display, Sight Electronics Unit, Symbol Generator and Arial 2.75" Folding Fin Rocket Control System and Hellfire Missile Control Systems. Proficient in reading, writing and speaking English with a thorough comprehension of Department Of Defense operations, processes, and standards including acronyms, abbreviations and terminology normally encountered in the US Military environment, doctrine and technical manuals.
