Description
The GL Accountant is responsible for timely and accurate accounting as well as analysis and financial reporting of Mercer Administration to meet the monthly and quarterly reporting requirements.
Responsibilities include the following:
Specific Duties
· Uploading/reviewing daily cash receipts entries and related supporting documentation into the GL
· Uploading/reviewing other journal entries into the GL such as bank reconciliation items and daily cash transfers
· Statutory Reporting
· Reviewing various reconciliations including fiduciary and admin group reconciliations
· Assisting with bank reconciliation questions
· Transferring monthly GL activity to a sister company
· Respond to assigned audit requests
· Participate in special projects
· Assist in the development and implementation of internal accounting policies and procedures for general accounting functions
Qualifications
· BA/BS degree in accounting or finance with a minimum of five years of experience in general ledger accounting, account analysis, and bank reconciliations.
· Ability to understand and articulate the financial impact of business decisions.
· Initiative and sound judgment to make proper accounting decisions.
· Extensive knowledge of Oracle and Hyperion financial accounting systems.
· Experience with the Brio query tool preferred.
· Intermediate to advanced proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel is preferred.
· Strong analytical, verbal, and written communication skills.
· Positive attitude and an ability to adapt to an ever-changing environment.
