Job Summary
The Assistant Store Coach, Merchandise Sales is the sales leader for the store and is primarily accountable for the performance of the consultative selling departments. The Assistant Store Coach, Merchandise Sales is charged with creating a solutions based selling environment focused on customer service, associate performance, profitable sales growth and bottom line profit.
· Directly responsible for managing a team of associates in fulfilling their respective roles in providing world class customer shopping experience
· Responsible for contributing to the overall financial performance of the store, including driving merchandise sales, credit and other miscellaneous revenues, expense management and achievement of profitability goals
· Drives appropriate behaviors in all store staff that result in customer satisfaction and performance results
· Responsible for identifying local customer market demands and working with the store and district teams to effectuate sound business decisions regarding adjustments to assortment and merchandising strategy to meet local market needs
· Directs, supervises and manages associates to ensures the sales floor is ready all day
· Builds and aligns great teams focused on delivering world class customer service through solutions based selling practices
Responsibilities/Skills/Experience Requirements
The Assistant Store Coach, Merchandise Sales is the consultative merchandise sales leader for the store; in this role, the Assistant Store Coach, Merchandise Sales receives guidance from the Store Coach who is the chief merchant and sales coach. The Assistant Store Coach, Merchandise Sales is responsible for directing, coaching, leading and guiding a team of associates that may include Leads and consultative selling associates to maximize sales and profit. The Assistant Store Coach, Merchandise Sales is responsible for managing, leading, and coaching the consultative selling organization to support the selling process (i.e. Customers for Life and Discovery Guide Usage). All Assistant Store Coaches are responsible to work jointly with fellow Assistant Store Coaches to drive great customer service and profitable revenue growth by supporting store initiatives and being a role model Customer Service Manager. Stores vary greatly, and the challenges in an Assistant Store Coach's assignment will vary greatly by store-size, location, local market, etc.
· Four-year bachelor's degree preferred
· Minimum of one-to-three years of merchandising accountability in retail stores
· Management experience, preferably in a multi-line, large department retail environment
· Financial literacy
