The National Multiple Sclerosis Society (NMSS) is seeking a Development Manager for its Kentucky - SE Indiana Chapter in Louisville. Under the direction of the Director of Development, this position is responsible for the execution of the year-round, mass market special events fundraising campaign, which includes the Bike MS, Walk MS, Best of Louisville Bash, and Third Party events.
ORGANIZATION
The National Multiple Sclerosis Society is the oldest and largest nonprofit MS organization and the only voluntary health organization in the U.S. supporting international MS research. The Society supports more MS research and serves more people with MS than any other organization in the world. The Kentucky chapter funds local programs and services for people with MS and their families, and supports the Society’s research mission to find a cure for this chronic and often disabling disease of the central nervous system. POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES
We are seeking a successful development professional with proven fundraising experience to assume the following responsibilities:
- Assist with planning, marketing and execution of a year-round mass-market special events fundraising campaign that includes Bike MS, Walk MS, Best of Louisville BASH, and Third Party events;
- Identify, cultivate, and acquire event sponsors with appropriate chapter staff and volunteers;
- Recruit and cultivate volunteers for fundraising events;
- Assist in developing overall fundraising budgets that include income and expense goals for each event/campaign within the parameters established by the Board and Chapter President;
- Identify and promote public awareness opportunities.
CANDIDATE PROFILE
Successful candidates will demonstrate the following experience, skills, and personal attributes:
- College degree required;
- 2 years of professional fundraising experience;
- Strong project management, marketing, campaign and special events development;
- Ability to create projects from start-up and/or enhance existing programs;
- Strong organizational, planning, and prioritizing skills;
- Excellent interpersonal communication skills (both oral and written);
- Willingness to work overtime when required by events and ability to lift up to 50 lbs;
- Proficient in all basic office software systems including word processing, desk-top publishing, spreadsheets and database;
- Willingness to travel both in and out of state;
