Position Summary: Eastern Kentucky University seeks an academic librarian with an interest in k-12 education to work in the Learning Resources Center. This branch library collection includes children's and young adult literature, curriculum materials, and electronic resources. The staff work in a fast-paced, team-based environment. This area of the library serves students and faculty in the College of Education's undergraduate and graduate programs, which includes Eastern's first doctoral program in Educational Leadership and Policy Studies as of fall 2008. Responsibilities include assisting in the following: reference service (electronically and face to face), bibliographic instruction, collection development, supervision of staff, and outreach and liaison work with the College of Education.
Minimum Educational Qualifications: MLS degree from an ALA accredited school required.
Minimum Experience Qualifications: Experience in libraries (academic or k-12 school) required.
Desired Qualifications Successful library instruction experience and knowledge of print and electronic educational materials are highly desirable. The library seeks applicants with leadership potential, exposure to team management, strong commitment to high-quality public service, flexibility to work in an environment of continuous change, and excellent interpersonal communication skills.
