Job Title: Mail Processor
Reports to: Mail & Warehouse Services Supervisor
Department: Administrative Services
Job Status: Non-Exempt

JOB SUMMARY
Sort and deliver Insurance company and Federation incoming mail. Process out going business mail according to procedures set forth by the company and the U.S. Postal Service.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
• Sort incoming business mail by name and department and place in sorting bin by department code.
• Deliver mail to Insurance company and Federation departments located throughout the building. Interoffice mail is picked up and delivered during mail delivery process.
• Outgoing business mail is processed. Mail is initially sorted into three different companies: Mutual Insurance Company, Federation and Agency. After sorting, the following additional processing is performed:
A. A determination is made regarding the category of mail: Presort 1-3 oz.
B. Presort flat and regular.
C. Postage is applied utilizing a Pitney Bowes postage metering machine.
D. Following the application of postage, the mail is placed in trays.
E. Periodically throughout the day, the processed mail is organized and delivered to the appropriate area for pick-up by the presort company or U.S. Postal Service.
F. Prior to releasing mail for pick-up, totals of each category of mail are determined utilizing the reporting feature of the Pitney Bowes postage metering equipment.
G. Forms are completed following each count and are given to the presort company for billing purposes.

Experience and Education:

JOB SPECIFICATIONS
• Physical demands: Standing (continuously) Lifting - not exceeding 60 pounds (frequently) Normal vision/hearing (with or without correction).
• Mental demands: Ability to work under time pressure and high-volume production.
• Environmental factors: Standard office lighting and temperature Excessive noise associated with postage meter machine and in inserter area.
• Equipment: Pitney Bowes DM1000 postage meter machine and mail cart Personal computer.

QUALIFICATIONS

• High school diploma or GED.
• Good verbal and written communication skills.
• Basic PC knowledge.
