Integrates supply chain best practices and continuous improvement processes. Provide leadership, management and oversight for the commodity managers on behalf of Flow International Corporation. Develop, align and deploy effective key commodity strategies, with accountability to positively impact associated annual spend - delivering annual value in terms of cash to cash improvements, throughput velocity and technology advancement. Responsible to provide a 'forward view' on inflation, and determining strategies to mitigate negative impacts. Create appropriate metrics that accurately demonstrate the level of value that is delivered through a commodity management business model. Directs the commodity management activities to ensure the most economical utilization of manpower with an emphasis on improving quality of procured materials and achieve delivery of developmental program execution. Manage and facilitate all facets of supply management activities between division business units and their suppliers. Implement sourcing strategies to support corporate and divisional objectives, providing the company competitive advantage in the areas of materials, supplies, and services. Locate, analyze, and develop a consolidated supplier base to meet current and future commodity needs. Create and maintain mutually beneficial long-term partnerships with suppliers to foster feedback and continuous improvement. Negotiate and manage all contracts and agreements for assigned commodities. Manage suppliers, cost, quality, and delivery performance. Understand, track, and forecast the key cost drivers and market factors for assigned commodities. Implement appropriate sourcing strategies to control the company's purchased material costs and to assure an adequate source of supply. Develop cross-functional teams to understand company-wide needs and evaluate suppliers. Drive continuous improvement in all aspects of the procurement process. Developing strategies for assigned procurement area to include spend analysis, market and geographic considerations, strategic importance, etc. Managing and optimizing supplier performance, including continuous improvement, innovations, obsolescence and reduction in total cost of ownership. Maintains and promotes sound relationships with suppliers and the business community. Manage budget, staffing and business process improvement tools. Requirements: The ideal candidate must have advanced knowledge of procurement principles, theories and processes. A minimum 5 years materials or manufacturing experience. Cross-functional business team environment experience. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Proven ability to lead, influence and motivate others. Travel - May require some domestic and international travel - approx. 25%. Computer literacy as well as intermediate to advanced skills in MS Office products. Experience in ERP/MRP programs a plus. Strong negotiation skills with a proven track record in cost reduction and control. Previous experience in Six Sigma, Lean Manufacturing disciplines a plus. BA/BS degree in Business, Engineering, Materials Management or equivalent. Minimum of five (5) years of progressive procurement experience. Minimum of five (5) years of planning and scheduling experience in manufacturing environment with products that have multiple bills of material and multiple process of production. Minimum of 3 years supervisory experience. CPIM, CRP or Six Sigma certification preferred.
