CSX Transportation is the largest company in the CSX family employing 34,000 management and union employees. CSXT's primary focus is the operation, maintenance and management of the largest railroad in the eastern United States.

Responsibilities

Supervises and coordinates the activities of CSXT system signal costruction forces in the planning, construction, and implementation of various signal construction projects on the Western. While responsibilities may include working across all areas of the Western Construction Region, primary area of responsibility will be those signal projects located within Kentucky, Ohio and West VA.

Responsible for all aspects of safety within area of assignment. Assesses and manages the personal safety of all assigned signal construction teams. Verifies and monitors compliance with CSXT safety rules and CSXT standards, and ensures operational safety of each project. Coordinates between all CSXT departments, outside party interest, utility compaines and contractors. Maintains a close interaction with all those diciplines affected by the construction of the signal projects.

Responsible for signal project management. Ensure budget, timelines, and quality guidelines are maintained throughout the construction process. Assigns work to employees, supports construction project schedule, and approves time sheets and expenses for the contract workforce. Supervises and coordinates the activities of personnel during system emergencies, incidents, and weather related emergencies which cause disruptions to the CSX signal system.

Supervise personnel for the maintenance and proper operation of signal facilities to include daily personnel assignments. Primary responsibility will be the maintenance and proper operation of signals systems. The review of maintenance activities required testing, preventative maintenance schedules and inspection of signal systems as required.

SAFETY:
Manages for steady improvement in personal an operational safety of all construction teams, facilitates Safety, FRA, and Operational Rules Classes.
Perform safety observations, collect safety performance data and submit promptly and accurately. Conducts efficiency and operational tests.
Communicate/execute safety plan detailed by the Safety committee and Director Signal Construction.
Build relationships with assigned employees to encourage safety practices (FELT Leadership).
Manages/Schedules manpower and equipment.
Holds formal investigations.

PERSONNEL:
Train and equips employees to succesfully complete assigned tasks.
Reward and discipline to create desired behavior.
Promote and develop future leaders.
Coach employees to enhance their decision-making, efficiency and effectiveness.
Inspects construction team work and track construction projects to ensure quality compliance while maintaining budget.

Qualifications
An Associates degree in Electrical or Electronic Engineering with 3 years experience in signal maitenance or construction or HS Diploma with 5 years experience in maintenance and construction of signal systems is acceptable. Knowledge of signal system components, maintenance methods, testing procedures, performance characteristics of electronic devices and the ability to understand circuit plans required. Applicant should be cognizant of CSXT safety rules, FRA rules and regulations governing railroad signals, train control systems, CSXT signal rules and instructions and CSXT standards. Must have good oral and written communication skills in addition to having good leadership skills.
50% Travel Required.
