Position Summary: The Department of Agriculture at Eastern Kentucky University is accepting applications for an Assistant or Associate Professor, tenure-track position in Horticulture (9 month / academic year appointment).
Teaching duties include Landscape Design, Deciduous Trees & Shrubs, Evergreens, Nursery Management, Fruit and Vegetable Production plus additional departmental supporting courses in soils and other areas of expertise. Candidates must be committed to hands-on, applied teaching philosophy and be able to communicate effectively with students and staff. Other responsibilities include scholarship/creative activities and service. Service activities include: academic advising, committee assignments, assist in the coordination of PLANET Certification, management of display gardens and service to the profession.
Minimum Educational Qualifications: A doctorate in Horticulture or related discipline is required of the position if the candidate's academic preparation is in Horticulture with a background in landscape design. Alternatively, a Masters Degree in Landscape Architecture is required for the position if the candidate's academic preparation is in Landscape Architecture with a background in horticulture. Doctoral candidates who are "ABD in Horticulture or related discipline must be within one year of completing his or her degree. "ABD" candidates will be considered at the rank of Instructor until the doctorate is completed. Degree(s) must be from a regionally (SACS, North Central, etc.) accredited or internationally recognized institution. Salary and rank will be adjusted upon completion of the doctorate.
