Heavy Equipment Mechanic

Minimum Requirements :
Lear Siegler Services, Inc. (LSI) is immediately hiring a qualified Heavy Equipment Mechanic in support of U.S. Army vehicle /equipment maintenance operations at our Ft. Knox, KY worksite location.

High school diploma/GED and must have at least 5 years actual and recent experience in repairing and maintaining heavy equipment to include 3 years actual and recent related experience in the field consistent with the requirements set forth in the contract.

Candidates must be able to obtain Class "A or B" Commercial Drivers License (CDL) within 90 days of employment.

Knowledge and proper use of special tools / equipment required to perform assigned maintenance tasks is mandatory.

Must be able to meet physical requirements associated with and / or pass any medical examination requirements related to performing daily assigned tasks.

May be required to pass and maintain a U.S. Government background security check.

Job Description :
The Heavy Equipment Mechanic analyzes malfunctions and repairs, rebuilds and maintains power equipment, such as cranes, power shovels, scrapers, paving machines, motor graders, trench-digging machines, conveyors, bulldozers, dredges, pumps, compressors and pneumatic tools. This worker operates and inspects machines or equipment to diagnose defects, dismantles and reassembles equipment, using hoists and hand tools, examines parts for damage or excessive wear, using micrometers and gauges, replaces defective engines and subassemblies, such as transmissions, and tests overhauled equipment to insure operating efficiency. The mechanic welds broken parts and structural members, may direct workers engaged in cleaning parts and assisting with assembly and disassembly of equipment, and may repair, adjust and maintain mining machinery, such as stripping and loading shovels, drilling and cutting machines, and continuous mining machines.
