Job Description
General Dynamics C4 Systems' Communications Networks Division provides defense and government customers with radios and leading edge communications capabilities. Software Defined and Cognitive Radio technologies and standards have been pioneered here since the early 1990s and have positioned us as a world leader in defense communication systems of the future. We cover the full spectrum of communications, including widely fielded radio systems and products used for handheld, manpack, maritime and fixed site communications. Successes in Fleet Command & Control Systems, Air Traffic Control, Combat Search and Rescue, and Tactical Ground Force radio communications have made us a trusted provider of mission-specific communications solutions. Special emphasis is placed on development of communications technologies, real time software, leading edge component and future radio products for next-generation battlefields.

The candidate will be assigned to support the implementation of the WIN-T for Army Units both at home and abroad when the unit deploys to Southwest Asia (SWA). Individual will be responsible for the comprehensive support of the system to include installation, operation, management, and maintenance of the JNN shelter and associated transit cases (both voice and data) , including the Battalion Command Post (CP) Node data cases. Individual will also: Work with GDC4S in-house engineering to resolve problems encountered in the field and provide enhancements required by the customer. Work with field engineers in GD's IA, Network Engineering, and BVTC programs to ensure smooth inter-operation. Perform complex technical evaluation and resolve critical technical problems on fielded GD JNN system. Implement test plans and procedures in accordance with contract requirements for the verification of deliverable system. Represents GD at program and customer reviews. Responsible for the configuration and maintenance of Windows 2000 servers providing E-Mail and DNS functions. Candidate must understand Joint Task Force operations including tactical as well as commercial telecommunications and data interfaces to include signaling protocols and interface standards. Serve as the subject matter expert working with the tactical customer to accomplish initial installation, configuration and reconfiguration of all equipment as the communications environment evolves. Frequently interface with military and civilian personnel of all ranks. Be able to apply appropriate portable test equipment such as BER testers, DMM, Oscilloscope, and others to the equipment/network under investigation.

BS Degree in a specific engineering or related technical field (e.g. BSEE, BSCS) and a minimum of five (5) years of progressively more responsible and directly related field engineering support expertise, or have equivalent combination of education and exp. A minimum of seven (7) years of experience is preferred. Minimum of 4 - 10 year experience with military tactical communication systems, network management, and digital communications systems planning a must. CCNA, Network , MCSE Certification desired. Experience with Promina and REDCOM IGX is also highly sought.
