Customer Service Representative
Indiana Farm Bureau

We are seeking
ONE FULL TIME AND PART TIME CUSTOMER SERVICE REPRESENTATIVE

For our local insurance office. We are looking for someone with good communication skills, above average computer skills, and who enjoys working with people and numbers. Prior insurance experience is helpful, but not required.

PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Communicates with clients and potential clients, providing information, answering questions, resolving problems, and contacting existing clients to set up appointments for agents. Also, promotes retention through client contact. Must maintain strict confidentiality of customer information.
  • Follows workflow procedures to process applications, policy changes, rate quotes and claims.
  • Processes workflow between the County Office and Home Office making sure information is accurate and complete.
  • Once licensed, quotes new and renewal business as outlined in the CSR Licensing Agreement.
  • Collects and processes monies for business premiums and other payments, following established cash-handling and banking procedures, including balancing and making deposits.
  • Provides support for Field Claims Personnel as needed.
  • Performs various functions for the County Farm Bureau, Inc., as directed by Management.
  • Performs general office duties in the County Office, including but not limited to answering the phones, filing, typing, and mail processing.

JOB SPECIFICATIONS AND EXPECTATIONS:

  • Requires a minimum of a high school diploma or equivalent. Continued education preferred.
  • Requires excellent customer service skills, including communication and organization skills. Must be able to handle multiple tasks under pressure situations. Ability to effectively interface with other Farm Bureau Insurance and affiliate personnel, and handle a high volume of telephone and walk-in traffic.
  • Requires the ability to make a minimum of 20 outbound customer calls per week to thank them for doing business with us, ask if there is anything further we can help them with, and then setting an appointment for the agent if appropriate.
  • Must possess or quickly acquire knowledge of basic computer skills. Knowledge of Word and Outlook must be acquired.
  • Requires knowledge of general office procedures acquired through job experience or equivalent training.
  • Insurance and/or claims background helpful.
  • Must have visual and hearing capability to operate computer and telephone equipment. Must have physical capability to use keyboard on a regular basis.
  • Must have own means of transportation and be able to travel to Home Office or other offices within the agency, to attend training or perform CSR duties as required for essential job functions.
  • Must become familiar with all the systems relevant to issuing, changing and reviewing customer files.
  • Expected to participate in ongoing training programs for current and new products and services, handling customer concerns, and telephone skills training, and other training, as required, to provide an excellent image of Farm Bureau Insurance and its affiliates.
  • Requires the ability to acquire a valid Indiana Property and Casualty Insurance License within two years of hire, must maintain a valid P&C license to continue employment, and must have a signed CSR Licensing Agreement on file.
  • Must acquire an understanding of the Company's general philosophy and goals and consistently project a professional Company image in dealing with people.
  • Must be a positive influence in establishing and maintaining a good professional relationship with Field personnel, Home Office staff and other internal and external customers. Every client communication should be treated as a public relations opportunity.
